one of the many reasons i love holding my camera is the amazing people and organizations i work with. I’m the official photographer of USTA Serves, the national Charity of the USTA. the award grants and scholarships to at-risk youth and people with disabilities. And, the gala raised $500,000.
last night, at the arthur ashe stadium, usta serves (usta.com ) hosted its 11th annual opening night gala in the president’s box at the us open. the gala was to celebrate tony bennett’s 85th birthday and barenakedbakery.com baked a very special (large) “tony bennett” cupcake for the night. to go with the cupcake was a bottle (very very large) of champagne from moet & chandon. alec baldwin helped with the auction items, one of which was visiting the set of 30 rock. mayor bloomberg, robin roberts, martina navratilova, billy jean king, and others enjoyed the evening. A perfect end was watching venus williams and vesna dolonts (6-4, 6-3).
